Circular hiking trail B in Gmünd
On foot or by bike - from the Big Bang to the present day - along unique natural treasures around Gmünd. This unique circular trail around Gmünd combines the themes of NATURE and COSMOLOGY. You will experience the natural treasures of the "Extraordinary Gmünd City Framing" up close in an impressive way. The trail leads you directly to the individual habitats. 17 station boards inform you about the most important habitats and key events in cosmology, palaeontology and geology.
Route characteristics: 40% asphalt, 60% grass and gravel paths
The route starts on Schlossparkgasse near the Palm House and ends back at the Schlosspark after a distance of 13.7 km. The trail is signposted throughout and runs along roads with little traffic and sandy paths, with few inclines. The walking time is about 4 hours; the driving time is about 1½ hours.
As a memento of your hike along the NatURknallweg in the Waldviertel, you can pick up a hiking badge from the Blockheide Gmünd Nature Park at the shop near the observation tower in Blockheide.
